Participants in our 24toCode hackathon had just hours to do it all and at the end, there was more at stake than a prize pool of $10K.
Our version of the popular hackathon format attracted everyone from early college to late career for good reason: it’s a chance to work with people from different backgrounds and use new technology to solve a real problem.
But that’s not all.
Chris Nardecchia, Rockwell Automation senior vice president and chief digital and information officer, said, “This hackathon associated our brand with innovation and raised community awareness and excitement about our company. We have been in the community for over 100 years and we want people to know that there are exciting and innovative companies solving interesting problems and expanding human possibility right in their backyard.”
This work matters
What happens here is real. The winning team, students from the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE), all walked away with internship offers. Those searching for career enhancement had a chance to problem-solve using machine learning, artificial intelligence and the latest in data analytics to solve actual smart manufacturing challenges. The path to the solution is truly up to the teams to create.
What happens here is changing the world – and through events like this we want to highlight the tech jobs that dominate manufacturing here and around the world.
